The Story behind TutorPath.

An authentic tutoring platform built by experienced tutors.

Meet Jake

The Founder of TutorPath

Jake is an experienced maths tutor with over a decade of teaching experience.

With a first-class master’s degree in mathematics and university teaching experience, Jake moved into full-time online tutoring, where he’s since worked with students of all abilities, from those building confidence to those aiming for top grades.

Over the years, Jake has delivered more than 5,000 hours of tutoring and supported hundreds of students, earning dozens of five-star reviews based on long-term progress and consistent results.

Along the way, he also saw what wasn’t working.

Great tutors were often underpaid or overlooked, students were matched too quickly, and platforms prioritised scale over quality.

So Jake built TutorPath - a platform designed to do things differently.

Built with tutors in mind, TutorPath focuses on fair pay, clear progression, and careful tutor–student matching, creating a better experience for both educators and learners.

The Journey

(so far)

Our Mission

Many tutoring platforms prioritise speed and scale. Parents are left to scroll through hundreds of profiles. Tutors are treated as interchangeable.
Once lessons begin, meaningful follow-up is often limited.

This approach can work in some situations. But in many cases, it leads to poor matches, inconsistent teaching, and unnecessary stress for students and families. Having seen this repeatedly from both sides a as a tutor and as someone supporting students long-term, it became clear that something was missing.

This service was created to prioritise thoughtful matching, continuity, and care. Not to replace tutors with systems, but to support good teaching and long-term relationships.

Our Principles

Matching matters

A good tutor on paper isn’t always the right tutor in practice. Taking the time to understand a student — their needs, goals, and learning style — leads to better outcomes and a more positive experience.

Consistency builds confidence

Students make the most progress when they work with the same tutor over time. Consistent support, clear communication, and continuity allow confidence to grow and learning to stick.

This service was built with tutors in mind, based on the belief that supported, valued tutors are better able to deliver consistent, high-quality teaching.

Tutors deserve respect

When tutors are treated fairly and supported properly, they teach better. Respect, trust, and realistic expectations benefit everyone involved — especially students.

These principles guide every decision we make, from how tutors are selected to how students are supported over time.

What this means for families

  • Fewer false starts and less uncertainty

  • Clear, open communication throughout

  • A calm and supportive learning environment

  • Tutors who are invested for the long term, not short-term outcomes

Rather than feeling rushed or transactional, tutoring is treated as a steady, supportive process — designed to build confidence over time.

Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of students and families, many of whom have stayed for multiple academic years.

That long-term trust is something I take seriously — and it’s the standard this service is built to maintain.
